I believe by listening, we create a relationship with a place. We open imaginary threads of connection, extend the tentacles of attention, and weave temporary sensory webs. Through listening, we enter into a dialogue with the place and all its components. Human hearing, however, is only one of many possible ways of perceiving sound. The soundscape neither begins nor ends with our ears. They are part of a tangle of acoustic meshworks where one thread pulls on another, the line itself is the process we dwell.
